The Worst form of violence

Think about it... the industrial revolution finished less than a century ago, and the living conditions of the working class well into the 1960's. This ent dickens novel stuff, people were dying in their thousands, from London to Moscow... and people just sat and watched it happen.

Think about it.
and while your at it, listen to this.

Music yearning like a god in pain.

I'm not really one for string quartets/Quintets, but there are a good few pieces that most defiantly deserve some recognition

Mozarts String Quintet in G Minor is one, the fact that being in a minor key it manages to keep upbeat makes for very interesting listening

Borodins Quartet no.2 3rd movement is stunning, and why it's not better recognised is totally beyond me.

Rachmaninov's Romance... I don't really need to say anything

Hayden String Quartet in D minor, dramatic, but in a good way.

I shan't post anymore here, but perhaps go and listen to some more, these aren't the only ones worth listening to.

A note on the picture, it is of course the girl in the poem "Eve of St Agnes" by Keats, from which the title of this post is taken

that is all.

Concrete Jungles Where Dreams Are Made of

Subway Encounter by Mark Ushartel ( I think)
Because its been too long since I last wrote about New York. Incredible new Jay-Z song about New York to try and bait my appetite for the follow up to 'Paris, je t'aime', 'New York, I love you'. In the words of the fellow in the trailer, 'God, I love New York'.

Paris you're alright, but you're just not New York.

the spires mad in the evening sun.

This might be one of the most typical english bit's of choral music ever, but can we forgive it? Oh i think we can.

ohh, I just wanted a picture on my post.

The dreams I remember from an easier time.

Ave Verum... that isn't by Mozart.
Far older
Far better
Something slightly haunting about it I always thought

The Tongue That Slaps The Sky A Hundred Times

"Dieu n'a point pitié! Dieu n'a point pitié!"
Pleure l'homme de la tribu;
Un vol de corbeaux tendu dans le Soleil
Jette toujours sur la terre l'ombre d'un deuil;
Ainsi disait la mere de ma mere,
Ainsi répéta la fille
Ainsi chante le petit-fils;
Dans ses mains il tient encore les jours passés:
Une portée d'oiseaux presque morts dans le nid de la vie.

Jean Baptiste Tati-Loutard born in 1938 in the Congo is the author of this wonderful, wonderful poem. The photo is of a storm in senegal by Christian Bachellier. God, I haven't written on here in ages, OH has of course been doing a superb job and being tirelessly patient with the amount of times I've told her I'm going to write something, so here is something!
